Economic Analysis of Demand Response with Voltage Control in Residential Environment
Residential electrical demand is one of the main controllable demand under the smart grid concept. The demand can be controlled using various demand-side energy management algorithms. Controlling the voltage magnitude at home entrance or at appliance level is one these methods and can practically be implemented at the residential level with the advancement of smart grid concept. This study analyses the economic benefit achieved by the voltage control at the residential level using a daily representative residential load profile in Turkey under dynamic pricing. The daily load profile is generated using power consumption measurements at two different voltage levels: 220V and 200V. Then, the economic analysis of a residential customer with and without voltage control is completed and it is shown that about up to 14% reduction on customer electricity bill is achieved over the assumed daily load and dynamic pricing profiles.
