The adoption of BIM reduces projects cost, time and increases the quality of work from the context of project management towards achieving smart cities. BIM is a process rather than a product, and it has the abilities to make a city \"smart\". Despite its advantages, its application in Malaysia is limited, especially among contractors. The objectives of this study are 1) To determine the prevalence of BIM usage among CIDB G7 contractors in the Klang Valley 2) To identify the factors affecting the adoption of BIM among CIDB G7 contractors in the Klang Valley and 3) To analyze and rank factors affecting the adoption of BIM among CIDB G7 contractors in the Klang Valley. Extensive literature survey identified the factors that affect the adoption of BIM. From the factors, Likert scale questionnaires were developed and sent to targeted respondents to obtain their feedback. Feedbacks obtained indicated that a high prevalence of BIM usage at 71%. Relative Importance Index (RII) was used to rank the factors affecting the adoption of BIM.
