Messaging App Uses IRC Servers and any Available Channel

In an era where communicating with anyone over the Internet is commonplace and services have risen to popularity, only to be replaced by something better, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) remains a method that many people are still using. Introduced in 1988, it is a protocol that has truly withstood the test of time. We created an App (application) for the Android ecosystem that can connect to IRC servers and allow the user to communicate with others on any channel they have access to on the server. The App uses an open-source Java library called Pircbotx as the backend for handling interactions with the server. The App offers minimal features to emphasize its primary purpose: communication. The interface was designed with the Android Material Design Guidelines in mind to give it a consistent appearance with other apps in the ecosystem. Any file access that was required was handled through a library called Paper.
