Linguistic Approach to Literary Work: Functional Discourse Analysis of The Enormous Radio by John Cheever

The Enormous Radio by the master story writer John Cheever has won wide acclaim since its publication. Instead of dwelling on the narrative or the development of motif, the present paper will take a linguistic approach to the interpretation of the story, aiming at shedding new light in the stylistic features of the story and facilitating discourse analysis in the process of literary translation.
