Cooling of radially ventilated cylindrical rotor machines
An analytical method for a ventilation and cooling system computation of radially ventilated electrical machines is presented. An iterative analytical fluid network solution is used based on experimental formulae while the latter is a flexible node count thermal model based on electrical network analogy. Using temperature measurement data provided by CG Electric Systems Hungary Ltd. the results were evaluated. The comparison showed that there was an agreement between the analytical thermal calculations and experimental results in most cases. In conjunction with the ventilation model less satisfactory results were achieved.
