Asymmetrical firing of 12-pulse converter for controlled P-Q operation using PIC microcontroller
In this paper asymmetrical firing pulse operation of a 12-pulse converter using PIC microcontroller PIC16F873A is presented. The study shows that it is possible to control independently the active and reactive power flow in a 12-pulse converter for a number of combinations of firing angles of the constituent 6-pulse converters. Constant VAr operation of the 12-pulse converter is experimentally verified and presented. The selection of microchip's PIC family of microcontrollers is done based on its low cost, interface with C programming language and easy to handle built in peripheral features
