Performance Analysis of UMi-MIMO Channel at 28 GHz Considering Condition Number and Rank in NLOS Environment
Millimeter wave (mmWave) frequency band has the potential to become one of the most influential contributors to fulfill the need of faster wireless communications with increased capacity. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technique, which is a candidate technology for mmWave wireless communication system, enables designing of communication channels utilizing spatial multiplexing. This paper represents an analysis of 2×2 and 4×4 MIMO channel characteristics for Urban Micro (UMi) cell scenario at 28 GHz. Main two performance indicators, those were considered in the paper are condition number and rank of the channel matrix in non-line of sight (NLOS) environment. Other parameters, those were considered, are Power Delay Profile (PDP), Outdoor to Indoor (O2I) penetration loss, and antenna spacing. The performance comparison between 2×2 and 4×4 MIMO channel for both Co-Polarization (Co-Pol) and Cross-Polarization (Cross-Pol) of antennas are also analyzed. The channel modelling was done using an open source channel simulator NYUSIM.
