The demands and growth in aeronautical communications systems can be solved by deploying OFDM-IM for aeronautical satellite communications. But the challenge is the coexistence between the proposed satellite OFDM-IM based and L-Band legacy systems. This paper investigates the effect of system performance due to spectrum sharing between the terrestrial and satellite OFDM-IM systems. The system outage probability expressions based on different scenarios were derived. The results demonstrate the interference impact and can significantly degrade the system performance.
