Energy-Efficient method for Handover in LTE femtocell networks
The tremendously increasing demand of higher data rates and improved energy-efficiency have motivated the deployment of femtocells. Femtocell are cellular access points of smaller-range, need low-cost, and can deployed by customer. Femtocells connects standard user equipment (UE) to the mobile operator's network via the end user's broadband access backhaul. The deployment of femtocells is the most promising energy efficiency enablers for networks. Femtocell deployments reduce the energy consumption on both the access network and the mobile terminals. The deploying more number of femtocells achieves the improved Quality of Service (QoS) and significantly reduces the power consumption. The Network operators as well as end-users require less expenditure due to low power consumption, which makes femtocell technology more attractive and valuable in business. This paper presents the Energy-Efficient Double Threshold algorithm for Handover in LTE integrated with femtocell networks.
