对321例沙眼旁患者进行了一项研究:急性滤泡性结膜炎189例，亚急性132例。第一组(108例)每日给予1%四环素软膏4 ~ 5次，第二组(103例)-1%四环素软膏+ 0.1%地塞米松滴眼液，第三组(110例)-优必达软膏(四环素0.5%、倍他米松0.1%、氯霉素1%、粘菌素)。抗生素联合糖皮质激素组疗效较高。i组4周治愈率为46.3%，ii组为72.8%，iii组为71.8%，6周治愈率分别为75.9%，88.3%和86.4%。
