Este olea europea, robusto y monumental, destacado por ser cultivo representativo en la agricultura española, protagoniza este filme en el que confluyen distintos motivos de denuncia identitaria y ecológica. Este estudio analiza el olivo como metáfora del desenraizamiento identitario, rural y cultural que conforman la identidad del individuo. Se examina la indignación ante la falta de conciencia medioambiental y la abusiva expoliación de olivos milenarios, convertida en un negocio lucrativo, donde los árboles se arrancan de su habitat natural y se venden como objetos decorativos para embellecer paisajes urbanísticos. Asimismo, se indaga la urgencia de proteger este patrimonio que carece de apoyo legal, y por último, iniciativas emergentes que abogan por su defensa.Abstract:The olive tree (2016), directed by the film director, Icíar Bollaín, narrates the struggle for Alma in recovering the millenary olive tree from her grandfather Ramón, that was sold to a German energy multinational to represent the company's logo. The olea europea, a robust and monumental tree, known for representing Spanish agriculture, stars in this film where various identity and environmental protests converge. This study analyzes the millenary tree as a metaphor of rural and cultural uprooting that construct an identity. I investigate the alienation from nature, the lack of environmental awareness, and the need to condemn the abusive expolio of millenary trees that has become a lucrative business, where trees are uprooted and sold as decorative objects to merely embellish urban and private landscapes.
