A series-fed coplanar waveguide slot antenna array
In this paper a four-element, series-fed coplanar waveguide slot antenna array operating in the C-band is described. The array is fed from both ends using anti-phase signals in order to maintain broad-side radiation independent of the operating frequency. The meandered, coplanar waveguide section between individual elements is designed to provide equal phase and amplitude distribution to each slot. The array has a measured return loss bandwidth greater than 24% centered at 5 GHz, with a gain of 8 dBi. Simulated performance with a metal backing configuration is shown to provide increases in the gain of ∼2.5 dB.
