Solving issues related to the identification of one's units, unerringly separating them from opposing forces of the enemy, thereby maximally eliminating the probability of falling under «Friendly fire» of one's fire equipment is relevant and timely and is possible due to the development of new methodological approaches that are based on mathematical support in accordance with the principles tasks of search and simulation modeling in the environment of modern software packages. Attention is paid to the examination of known technological measures and it is shown that they are not able to provide an effective solution to problems related to the recognition of one's own and enemy forces. Taking into account the trends in the development of the weapons of the probable enemy, conditions are determined that should be considered the most typical for solving the problem of reliable recognition of manpower on the battlefield.
