This needs analysis can be used as a reference in developing a model for improving the competence of lecturers in practical learning. The research was conducted using quantitative methods to determine the professional competence of lecturers who teach practicum, carried out by 50 students as a sample providing perceptions of the competence of educators appointed by lecturers, while studies and literature studies were carried out based on observations and documentation by researchers. The results of the personality, pedagogies, professional and social competencies of lecturers still need to be improved because there is no satisfactory standard of value yet. The analysis shows the data that there are still many things that happen that are not in line with expectations. The recommendation from this research is that it is necessary to develop a model of increasing educational competence for nursing lecturers to be able to carry out their duties as lecturers in the field of advancement. Abstrak Abstract-Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis kompetensi professional dosen program studi Diploma III Keperawatan di Kota Padang. Analisis kebutuhan ini dapat menjadi acuan dalam melakukan pengembangan model peningkatan kompetensi dosen dalam pembelajaran praktikum. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode kuantitatif untuk mengetahui kompetensi professional dosen yang mengajar praktikum, penilaian dilakukan oleh 50 orang mahasiswa sebagai sampel dalam memberikan persepsi tentang kompetensi pendidik yang ditunjukan dosen, sedangkan studi kesenjangan dan studi literature dilakukan berdasarkan observasi dan dokumentasi oleh peneliti. Hasil kompetensi kepribadian, pedagogies, professional dan sosial dosen masih perlu ditingkatkan karena belum pada standar nilai yang memuaskan. Analisis kesenjangan menunjukan data bahwa masih banyak kenyayaan terjadi yang tidak sesuai dengan harapan. Rekomendasi hasil penelitian ini adalah bahwa perlu dilakukan pengembangan model peningkatan kompetensi mendidik bagi dosen Keperawatan untuk dapat melakukan tugas sebagai dosen praktikum bidang keperawatan.
