Multi-path time delay estimation based on third order cross-moment
The cross-correlation is an effective tool for estimation of time delay between two signals. Unfortunately, in the practical world, there are always problems in multi-path time delay estimation (MTDE). The cross-correlation fails to deal with the MTDE case. In this paper, a novel technique for MTDE is proposed. The new method is based on the slice selection on the third order cross-moment (TOCM). It is well known that TOCM carries more information and is insensitive to additive Gaussian noise than does the second order statistics (SOS). This property leads to a robust and unique solution of MTDE by using our TOCM based approach.
