Discharge-Induced Ignition of Combustibles on Ac Power-Supply Cords
Unintentional short-circuit in electrically and/ or mechanically damaged power-supply cords can cause fire accident. Detection of short-circuit of element conductors of cords or discharge is difficult with a conventional circuit breaker. Thus, establishment of a hazard prevention system has been strongly required. This paper reports the ignition phenomenon of combustibles by this type of short-circuit. It is reproduced in laboratory using a 100- V power-supply cord commercially available, where some of element conductors are disconnected artificially. Possible features characterizing the phenomenon are discussed to establish a hazard prevention system.
