Multiband PIFA Antenna for Mobile Handheld Devices
A Multiband planar inverted F antenna design is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna has multiband characteristics and resonating at GSM 900 (890–960 MHz), DCS 1800 (1710-1880MHz) and WLAN 2.4GHz bands. These bands are controlled independently without affecting the other bands. The multiband characteristic is achieved by using multi-resonant slots in the radiating patch. Also, the shorting pin takes place in this antenna resonates at quarter wavelength. The gain of the proposed PIFA antenna is nearly more than 2dBi and has the omnidirectional characteristics. This antenna is highly suitable for mobile handheld devices.
