For step changes in load, bangbang control has been shown to minimize the transition time. Amendments to a boost converter’s topology can be made to augment this control law and improve dynamic characteristics. Replacing the inductor with a nonlinear coupled inductor and adding a bleed-off resistor at the output help with step increases and decreases in load respectively.
