On the nonlinear reference phase in regular perturbation models
We provide an analytical expression of the nonlinear phase induced by the Kerr effect that highlights its dependence on the modulation format and on the link parameters. We show that such a nonlinear phase must be used in regular-perturbation models in order to minimize their modeling error. We detail the case of dispersion-managed systems as an application example.
