Methodology for study of river crossing of lineal engineering constructions by submersible GPR
The results of the study of linear engineering constructions (oil and gas pipelines, bridges, power lines and so on) at river crossings are presented in this article. In our experimental studies we used a low-frequency unscreened dipole antenna with a central frequency of 50 MHz (“LogiS-Geotech”). Examples of pipeline detection in the mass of bottom sediment are presented. The speed characteristics of the propagation of electromagnetic waves in water-saturated sediments are experimentally specified. Three-dimensional images of an area of river showing the position of bedding rock and the thickness of bottom sediments are constructed. The coastal landfall of pipelines on erosion during spring floods is studied in detail. The dynamics of the interaction of channel processes with pile trestles in the Lena River at different times of the year (after the spring flood and before the freeze-up) are studied. The parameters of the erosion of bottom sediments near the pile trestle due to the channel processes of Lena River are determined.
