The machine packages the diapers that fail the automatic quality test and pass the manual check. The diapers were previously packaged manually which is very tedious and time consuming. The machine compresses the diapers to a pre-specified volume, lifts and pushes them into the packaging bag and it can produce four different packaging shapes with the possibility of choosing the number of diapers through a digital screen. Manufacturing the diapers packaging machine required a study for its mechanisms and operation principles and doing the mechanical design in addition to designing the control system which is responsible for the compression, lift and push motions and their timing. The developed control system consists of a PLC device which was programmed to perform the assigned jobs, pneumatic pistons and sensors for the pistons positions and counting the diapers. An accurate sensor system was developed to count the diapers appropriately.
