The limited energy resources in the world promotes the increased utilization of renewable sources like solar energy. This could be harnessed using photovoltaic panels, which require Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques to have the maximum usage of the panel output power. Among the algorithms for tracking the proposed method uses Perturb and Observe (P&O) MPPT. The P&O controller controls the duty cycle of the zeta converter, which finally controls the brushless DC (BLDC) motor. Speed of the motor can be controlled by adjusting the voltage at the dc link of the inverter that feeds the motor. Thus a PV powered Zeta converter fed BLDC drive model is proposed. The effectiveness of the model is verified using simulation done in PSIM.
