A Robust Travelling-Wave Simultaneous Faults Location Considering Parameters Variations
Calculating the fault location correctly reduces outage time and, so, system reliability increases. There are a lot of algorithms to calculate a single fault location. This paper proposes an advanced algorithm to detect, discriminate, and locate single fault and simultaneous shunt faults by using both of single-end and double-end traveling wave (TW) techniques. The effect of changing the inception angle of the simultaneous faults and the sampling frequency on the algorithm accuracy is studied. To make sure of the proposed algorithm capability to detect and identify the fault locations correctly, comprehensive simulation results are investigated. ATP-EMTP package is used to simulate a 500 kV transmission line. MATLAB discreet wavelet transform (DWT) toolbox is used to investigate faults transient signals.
