A key enabling factor is the possibility to automatically share the radio spectrum. Bandwidth efficiency is defined as the number of users that can be supported by a base station in a given spectrum. The bandwidth efficiency in a DS-CDMA and a frequency hopping system is studied when two operators share the same spectrum. The influence of base station location is also studied.
