Study on Controllable MOA in 750kV System to Cancel Closing Resistor of Circuit Breakers
This paper studied the use of controllable metal oxide arrester (MOA) to cancel closing resistors of circuit breakers in 750kV system. The principle diagram and control strategy of controllable MOA was introduced. Based on typical system conditions, the limitation effect of controllable MOA on closing overvoltage was studied. The influence of parameters of controllable MOA on overvoltage limitation effect was analyzed. The parameter configuration of controllable MOA for different line length to cancel closing resistor of the circuit breaker was proposed. The energy consumption and power frequency voltage withstand of the controllable MOA under different operating and fault conditions were studied.
