Thecriteriaforselectingtherespectiveapplicationinmanycasesarearbitraryorjustaresponseto advertisingortheusageoftheirfriends.Thewebtoolsandsocialmediaprovideampleopportunities, oftenforfree,forincorporationintolearningactivities.Tobenefitfromtheuseofthemforlearning purposes,itisimportanttoknowstudentpreferencesandthewayinwhichtheyhandlethemedia, intheirprivateandacademicenvironments.Also,theperceptionofthesenseofspatial,socialand temporaldistance,whichgives shape toour relationships anddaily exchangesof information is essentialforteachers.Itisimportantforuniversitiesthattheusageoftechnologiesisnotdriftingtoo farawayfromthosewhichstudentsuseoutsidethewallsofthecampus.
