The notoriety of a geographical entity has an impact on the number of evocations in newspapers, on tv or on the number of manufactured goods which are associated to its name. However, the World Wide Web constitutes to some extent the filigree of this international influence of geographical areas which can be appreciated by the frequency of their references on Internet pages. The number of quotations of a name on the Web is measured classically by consultation of the principal international search engines (Google, Altavista...). The present research shows, thanks to the design of an analysis software, that the most quoted French areas on Internet are in addition to the Paris area, the coastal Provence, the Riviera and Brittany. The territories radiation is a strategic challenge for local communities who wish to keep their development and boost their competitiveness..
