Naphthalene and melamine-based powder superplasticizers have been used for premixed-products. There are some problems wherein sufficient fluidity cannot be provided at low temperature range, when those conventional powder superplasticizers are used. In recent years, polycarboxylate-based liquid superplasticizer has been used for the purpose of producing high-strength concrete and high-fluidity concrete. Polycarboxylate-based superplasticizer is a safe material for health reasons since it contains no formaldehyde and its application is expected to expand in the future. However, a high retarding property of this type of superplasticizer has caused a rare application in cement-based premixed-products.
