In response to this problem, we consider to apply the cognitive radio technology in general, and the cognitive use of TV white space based on the white space database (WSDB) in particular, to the VANET where communication nodes (vehicles) move fast and for a long time. In order to provide stable and efficient communications over TV white space in VANET, (1) the quick acquisition of the status of license/primary users at the location and (2) the dynamic selection of an appropriate data channel are essential. To fulfill those two requirements, in this paper, we propose a database driven data channel selection scheme for VANET over TV white space.
