This paper presents an overview of the recent achievements in haptic communication, including signal capture, encoding, and delivery. We first introduce the concepts and applications of haptics. Then we list typical haptic devices for capturing and displaying. Among them, the wearable devices have a wider range of application scenarios. Thirdly, we summarize the typical methods and development directions of haptic encoding. Finally, we present the importance of haptic delivery and discuss the requirements, problems, and solutions for delivery.
