Rotors with gyroscopic effects are being modeled as linear systems with structure uncertainties, while the speed disturbance of the magnetic bearing system can be treated as structure uncertainties. A simple output feedback controller is proposed for minimizing eigenvalue sensitivities based on complete parametric eigenstructure assignments. The basic idea is to minimize the eigenvalue sensitivities using the design freedom provided by eigenstructure assignments. Besides the design parameters, the eigenvalues of closed-loop system are also optimized within desired regions.
