A lot of media are employed in teaching and learning process. One of media used in teaching grammar especially tenses is comic strips. Comic strips tell a story in form of pictures series and text structures or dialogue. This article aims to find out the effect of using English comic strips as media in teaching simple past tense. A quasi experimental design is used in this study to identify the causal impact of an intervention on target population without random assignment when the treatments were given. The subjects of this study were the seventh grade students of junior high school. The finding of t-test obtained was 3.865 which were higher than t-table 2.08. It means that the comic strips are effective for teaching simple past tense. 摘要

英语教学需要多种媒介和方法,使学生在教与学的过程中充满热情。在教学过程中使用了大量的媒体。在语法尤其是时态教学中使用的媒介之一是连环画。连环画以图画、文字结构或对话的形式讲述故事。本文旨在探讨用英语连环画作为媒介进行一般过去时教学的效果。本研究采用准实验设计来确定干预对目标人群的因果影响,而不是在给予治疗时随机分配。本研究以初七年级学生为研究对象。得到的t检验结果为3.865,高于t表2.08。这意味着漫画对一般过去时的教学是有效的。连环画可以用于其他方面的教学,如讲故事、另一种时态、写作等,也可以与学生的学习风格相结合。
