The key idea is that Data packets are forwarded by a switch ASIC alone, whereas Interest packets are forwarded by an NDN forwarding engine at a server. This paper validates that the architecture is able to achieve the 10-Tbps throughput of Data packets by analyzing bottlenecks for high-speed forwarding.
