„Powolna sługa a siostra [i ciotka]”. Sprawy rodzinne w korespondencji Anny Jagiellonki
The article is dedicated to the analysis of family relationships in the correspondence of Anna Jagiellon, the daughter of King Sigismund I, and later Queen of Poland. Numerous letters addressed to the sisters (Sophie, Hedwig), brother (Sigismund August), and son-in-law (Sigismund III Vasa) reveal Anna’s concern for different aspects of family life: health, morality, the situation of the members of the dynasty. For Anna, correspondence was a form of confession, an opportunity to complain about various problems. The letters of the Infanta of the Kingdom of Poland contain, sometimes verbalized, sometimes hidden emotions and expectations. They certainly had a therapeutic effect and helped their author in struggling with everyday problems and replacing personal contacts with her family.
