Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakteristik instrumen performance assessment terdiri atas lembar observasi dan soal tes uraian. Analisis validitas isi melalui indeks Aiken menghasilkan indeks validitas yang tinggi berkisar antara 0,67 hingga 1,00. Nilai rerata infit dan outfit MNSQ mendekati 1,00 menyatakan keseluruhan pola jawaban serta tampilan kerja laboratorium adalah fit. Nilai rerata infit dan outfit ZSTD mendekati 0,0 menyatakan keseluruhan instrumen berkualitas bagus. Reliabilitas instrumen secara keseluruhan pada lembar observasi dan soal kognitif menunjukkan koefisien yang sangat bagus.
