The dichotomy is one between phenomenological models of high-level decisions and evolution models of low-level dynamics. The dominant modeling concepts are based traditionally on (a) \"homeostasis\" and, (b) \"physical dynamics\"-such as those encountered in pharmacology, quantitative pathophysiology, and immunology.
