An Experimental Approach Towards Adaptive Beam-Shaping using SMI Algorithm in Indoor Fading Environment
Beam shaping in indoor communication is always a challenge because of small scale fading where the wireless channel shows the random variation of its impulse characteristics. It requires lots of experimental observations and large sets of measurement for any conclusive results. In this paper, an extensive experimental investigation is performed under indoor fading wireless LTV Channel for beam shaping of receiving antenna array using well known Sample Matrix Inversion (SMI) algorithm. For improved performance in random LTV channel, we propose a modified adaptive SMI to achieve faster beam shaping of desired Smart Antenna system using a developed test-bed model with FPGA based reconfigurable WARP boards.
