In order to detect whether someone has worn mask or not there is need of a mechanism that captures the image and detect the mask pattern and takes decision accordingly. Applications of image processing for decision making after face mask pattern detection to assist the prevention of COVID-19 has been considered. The existing researches in field of image processing and pattern detection have been considered. The systems that are making use of neural network to train the network model in order to perform prediction are also examined. The major issues of existing research are the time consumption and lack of accuracy. More over the size of image also influence the performance of system. Various mechanisms used in case of existing research to perform pattern detection have been reviewed.
