The issue of unemployment has been outlined as one of the inhibitors of economic growth. As African countries are concerned with addressing the issue of unemployment; this paper proposes a strategic intervention to counter unemployment through Capacity Development and bridging the skill gap between the market skill requirements and the skills of individuals. The proposed model aims at creating a supply demand balance and drive the attraction of new business opportunities while feeding the talent pool with more qualified human resources. This paper also outlines a relevant Capacity Development initiative that is being conducted in Egypt along with significant successful results.
