Radiated Noise From a Clamped Circular Plate-Shaft System
In this paper, a model problem for helical gear system dynamics is studied. The model problem consists of a shaft coupled to a plate through a bearing stiffness. Gear forces are modeled as a longitudinal excitation of the shaft which in turn drives the gear housing through the bearing. In this study, the shaft is modeled as a rod, while the bearing is modeled as a spring only supporting longitudinal forces. The gear housing is modeled as a clamped circular plate. Transfer functions from the shaft to the circular plate are analytically derived, using a spectral method along with four pole parameters. Finally, radiated noise is computed, using the acoustic relations due to plate surface vibration.
