The precision power dissipation and size are key factors of an hand-held laser range finder. This paper chooses the chip of TDC-GP2, which designed by Germany ACAM Company and can convert time to data automatically, as a platform. With the specific wide range and high precision time interval measurement unit of TDC-GP2 as well as the advantage of the less power dissipation and small package size, this paper design a kind of hand-held laser range finder using pulse method which cater to the measurement of long-range target.
