Silver nanoparticles (60 nm) and silver nanoplates (130 nm) have been synthesized and characterized using UV-visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometer (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The silver nanoparticles are doped with TiO2 nanoparticles. The photocatalytic activity of Ag nanoparticles and nanoplates doped TiO2 nanoparticles coated on vitrified tiles was investigated, wherein, degradation of methylene blue, rapidly on exposure to sunlight was observed.
