The surface temperature is one of the main climatic contributors regarding the change in the response of the targets in the surface, which imply changes in the radiation balance and consecutively in the spectral response felt by the satellites. The increase in temperature, characteristic of urban surfaces, can be analyzed using the thermal infrared band of satellites, which allow the estimation of surface temperature values. The objective of the research was to compare the surface temperature results obtained with the processing of the thermal infrared bands (TIR - Thermal InfraRed) of the Landsat 8 satellite, with images of all months of the year except those with cloud coverage that makes processing impossible ; relating the surface temperature values obtained and the climatic variability of the Boa Viagem neighborhood. Boa Viagem, as a neighborhood of great urban density and high economic interest, surface temperature studies, especially those based on Landsat 8 thermal images, provide an important parameter for understanding the neighborhood's microclimate and the vecto rs of its changes. The surface temperature in Boa Viagem showed to vary and spatialize differently according to the month and season of the year, with the characteristics of the artificial relief presented as the main influence on the microclimate. The study of TS associated with analyzes of land use and climate change at the regional level can enrich and support very important discussions on anthropic impacts a nd the horizontal and vertical growth of cities.
