Un’osteomielite cronica attraverso il Mediterraneo

The paper describes the case of a girl whose hospital admission for a domestic accident led to the diagnosis of chronic osteomyelitis as the likely outcome of an acute infection contracted and treated in her country of origin. After an initial wait-and-see phase, the flare-up of the infectious process led to the indication for a demolishing surgery that definitively resolved the clinical picture. The main diagnostic and therapeutic elements of a pathology that is uncommon in Italy are reviewed.
