Where we come from and where we are going: a review of automated driving studies
During the last decade, research has conducted a large amount of studies that investigated driving automation from the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) perspective. Due to the many possibilities for study design concerning investigated constructs, data collection and parameters, at present, the pool of findings is heterogeneous and nontransparent. This literature review applies a structured approach in reviewing scientific papers that investigated driving automation and allows a statement on the status quo of existing methodological approaches. Most studies focused on safety followed by trust and acceptance. Driving/Take-Over Request (TOR) performance also marked a significant portion, however many different parameters are investigated. First results identify gaps to be addressed in future studies and allow researchers to investigate known constructs with established methods.
