Modeling of Lithium-ion Battery Charging and Discharging Using the Preisach Hysteresis Model
The Preisach model is a powerful tool and is used successfully in many areas of physics. The characterization of the battery charge is a relatively new area, but there are many authors currently working on it. This document focuses on the application of the Preisach's hysteresis model to simulate the recharge cycles of lithium ion battery cells. Implementation of the model as well as the measurement necessary for its setting is presented. The whole process is done for a constant ambient temperature because it is an initial study. The very good match of the model with the reality is a challenge for incorporating additional effects into the model and finishing it up to use in the battery management system.
