Distance education is desirable for those who are unable to attend the traditional class, because of their work requirements. A distant education system can be very effective and useful to provide a learning environment in which teacher and students located remotely can participate in the same lecture and exchange their ideas and opinions. Also it can overcome the other deficiencies of the educational system which does not provide an environment to make up for missed lectures. The goal of this project is to develop an integrated environment for the delivery of course material, independent of time and geography. The paper covers the motivation for virtual classrooms, the selection and the use of delivery technologies, strategies and issues, and participant feedback. The components of this Web based classroom environment are Active Server Pages (ASP), the Server database, Java and VB scripts, and an Internet Information Server (IIS) application. ASP provides a means for Web developers to activate their Web sites with dynamic live database-driven content. The code that produces this rich content runs on the server.
