The present integrative literature review analyzed articles published between January 2002 and December 2016 aiming to investigate the instruments used to assess the overload of informal caregivers to people with chronic pathologies in the Brazilian context. We searched the databases SciELO, PubMed, LILACS and Capes Periodicals, narrowing the final scope to 136 articles.
