Importance of Mobile Learning in Improving the Quality of Educational-information Systems in the Saudi Arabian High Schools

The Educational-information System provides a platform for teachers, students and staff to share educational materials online within and between universities, colleges and/or departments. It can also be called as a repository for educational materials. The quality of Educational-information System can be improved by using various new technologies and one such is the Mobile Learning (also called as m-Learning). Many developing countries are in a dilemma whether to consider mobile learning in the educational sector or not. In particular, the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia is planning to improve the quality of educational-information system by improving the infrastructure but they are not sure about the acceptance of mobile learning for teaching and learning by the teachers. So, in this research, we considered a case study and carried out a survey which examined the possibility of adoption and acceptance of mobile learning in the Saudi Arabian high schools from teachers' perspective. This study used a quantitative approach survey of 160 students using a modified acceptance framework called as the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. This model is adopted to determine the factors that influence the teachers’ intention to use m-Learning in high schools for teaching and learning. The results from graphs demonstrated that the acceptance level of teachers on m-Learning is quite high which is a positive attribute and our recommendations will serve the purpose for improving the quality of Educational-information system.
