Analysis of solar estimation from buildings along with demand response in a renewable microgrid
This paper studies a practical implementation of a renewable microgrid in a city in the Northwest region of the U.S.A. The microgrid is sourced mainly by the hydro-generation location in midst of the city and future solar installations, which combined could be adequate to run some of the critical loads in the city. This paper will shed light on the possible independent operation of microgrid with results from system study in Powerworld and estimation of proposed solar installation on building rooftops using the PVWatts calculator developed by National Renewable Energy Laboratories (NREL). Further improvements to operational efficiency of this microgrid will be evaluated by implementing demand response schemes.
